About the turtle-cam
3/09/11, new turtlecam -- an updated model, the D-Link DCS-920. Incremental improvements over the previous one, which includes every feature I could ever want (a URL for fetching the live image).
The previous turtle-cam was a wireless D-Link DCS-900w, purchased early 2005. It had been mounted since in a cookie jar outdoors, and worked reliably for 5 years -- clearly a pretty robust unit. The power brick died about a year in, but the off-the-shelf replacement from Radio Shack has worked well ever since.
The turtlecam is now mounted in a hand-built birdhouse, which is again attached to one of the net supports.
